An officer in the political security office in Hadramout escaped on Sunday an apparent assassination attempt after armed men believed to be suspected Al-Qaeda militants carried out an attack on Major Saleh Ba Dhris.
Sources said that the attackers were riding a motorcycle when they fired on the major's house but no casualties were reported.
The incident came amid a series of attacks against public security and intelligence offices and assassination attempts against intelligence and security officers in southern and southeastern regions.
Many were killed and injured in the attacks and attempts mainly blamed on Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula and the separatist movement.
