Yemenia Airways has evacuated about 6000 out of 30000 Yemenis so far from Egypt, mostly students.

The company said in a statement that the evacuation process took place onboard daily flights carrying Yemenis from various Egyptian cities to their country.

Despite difficulties amid the current security situation in the North African country, we will continue to transport all Yemenis in Egypt through four flights from Cairo and two flights from Alexandria to Yemen a day, it said.

Some of the evacuees were transported free and others had their tickets.

President Saleh ordered to evacuate the Yemenis in Egypt after they had appealed to him to commit Yemenia Airway to come for them as the situation started to deteriorate amid massive protests demanding the removal of President Muhammad Hosni Mubarak.
