The head of the supreme council of the opposition, the Joint Meeting Parties (JMPs), Abdul Malik Al-Mutawakil said that the JMP leaders would respond to President Saleh's initiative officially when they receive it through the official circles officially.
Al-Mutawakil added that the JMP will continue their plans to hold rallies on Thursday in various Yemeni cities to protest Saleh's regime in order to obtain more reforms politically and economically.
Early today, President Saleh held a joint meeting with parliament and Shura councils in which he announced that he would not seek to extend his presidential term after 2013. He vowed not to inherit rule in Yemen to his son, Ahmed Ali Saleh, as well as to postponing the parliamentary elections, which were expected to take place this April.
