Yemeni Airways decided on Saturday to suspend flights to and from Cairo due to the mass protests rocking Egypt, almasdaronline.com quoted a source at Sana'a International Airport as saying.
The suspension comes as there are hundreds of Yemenis stranded at Cairo International Airport including patients waiting for airplanes to carry them home, the website said.
Yemenis at Cairo Airport have appealed to the government to commit Yemenia Airways to resume flights to and from Egypt, especially because there are patients among the stranded.
Earlier today, Yemen News Agency Saba reported that an operations room had been formed by the Foreign Ministry and Yemen's embassy in Egypt to monitor the situation of the Yemeni people as massive protests are continuing for a fifth straight day in Egypt.
The ministry and the embassy are communicating over issues concerned by Yemenis in the African country, especially facilitating the travel of those who want to come back to Yemen, Saba reported.
Ambassador to Egypt Abdul Wali Al-Shamiri said all Yemenis in Egyptian cities, mainly those where protests are taking place, were safe and away from the protests, Saba said.
