The Interior Ministry said on Sunday that leaders of the Joint Meeting Parties JMP, the opposition, will be questioned after the statement of a separatist leader revealing the involvement of the JMP in financing sabotage acts.
In case the information comes to be true that the JMP leadership connived to violate the constitution and enforced law and disturb the public security, investigations will be inevitable, it said.
Separatist leader Tahir Tamah has recently said that the JMP provided financial support to saboteurs and separatists in the south to carry out illegal acts including attempts to thwart the 20th Gulf soccer cup, which was held through November 22 to December 05 successfully.
The JMP provided YR 10 million through Muhammad Ghalib Ahmed a leader of Yemen's Socialist Party, one of the JMP parties, Tammah, he said.
The statement led to the arrest of Ahmed by counterterrorism forces at his home in Sana'a on Sunday.
After the arrest, the prosecution said the statement included dangerous information about the involvement of the JMP in financing sabotage acts with the aim of disturbing the public security and peace as well as the state interest.
Ahmed was jailed until his investigation completes.
