A tribesman was killed and two soldiers were injured when clashes erupted early Monday between the security forces and tribesmen in the Beer Ali district, Shabwa.
The battlefield was not far from the Balhaf Port for exporting liquefied natural gas.
Informed sources confirmed the death of Nasser BaKharkhour and taking the two soldiers to hospital, while the reasons for the clashes were unknown.
The fighting came amid military preparations and the arrival of military reinforcements, particularly in the Al-Saeed district, after targeting the convoy of Deputy Chief of General Staff, Shabwa Governor and other military commanders.
The attack was blamed on Al-Qaeda which has been responsible for deadly attacks against security buildings and public security and intelligence officers in southern and southeastern areas, mainly in Shabwa, in the last few months.
The authorities carried out in late September large-scale operations against Al-Qaeda militants in Al-Hawta town and other areas in the province killing, wounding and arresting many of them.
A week later, they said the town had been cleared of militants and a hunt is continuing for suspects who could escape.
