Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula AQAP claimed on Saturday responsibility for the attack against the political security bus in Sana'a late last month.
It said in a statement 14 senior officers from the counterterrorism unit were killed and others were injured.
The attack came within a series of attacks' malice elimination operations' carried out by the Mujaheedin battalion in Sana'a, according to the statement.
The officers were targeted after completing a training intelligence course by U.S. trainers, and the attack took place after accurate surveillance of the officers while on field visits, it said.
The statement also claimed AQAP responsibility for attacks on other public security and intelligence senior officers and buildings in other provinces.
After the attack, security sources said one was killed and others were injured, four in critical condition.
Also, conflicting reports surfaced following the attack, with some noting the bus came under a shower of bullets, and others saying the attackers bombed it at 6:00 am on September 25.
In recent months, AQAP has been responsible for many deadly attacks against security targets in the south and has threatened to continue its fight against the authorities and foreign interests in Yemen.
