Unidentified armed people attacked on Monday the Houra security office in the Valley and Desert, Hadramout, but there were no casualties or damage, the Interior Ministry said.
Destructive elements opened fire on the office with machine guns from the mountain overlooking its eastern part, it said, adding that the attackers ran away.
A hunt was launched for suspects, and security was tightened with the forces in coordination with the security of nearby companies and checkpoints combing the area.
The attack came amid a series of deadly attacks, mainly claimed by Al-Qaeda, on security and intelligence buildings and officers and their cars in southern and southeastern regions in the last few months.
Apart from the topic, the authorities are tightening the security around the foreign missions in the capital Sana'a after they had got information about possible Al-Qaeda attacks.
A security source, who asked not to be named because of the sensitivity of the issue, said precautionary measures were taken including setting up more checkpoints in the main streets.
