Hundreds of students and tens of educators took to Saada streets on Tuesday in protest against murdering an English educator in the Razih district by the Houthi Group, and calling on the Houthi fighters to leave schools according to the ceasefire reached with the government.
The walk started at the Al-Saeed Educational Complex, and when the protestors arrived at the governmental compound Local Council Secretary General told them he would contact the mediation commission with the group over their demands.
Students carried placards reading: "go out of our schools", and teachers carried placards reading: "our slogan is peace, our goal is education, and our demand is handing murderers."
They condemned the murder and urged the authorities to implement the death penalty against the killers.
Head of the Educational Professions Syndicate Muhammad Al-Adoul threatened to escalate the situation in case the murderers are not arrested and brought to justice.
We will implement sit-ins and stop teaching as the life of a teacher is in danger, he said, adding that they had given the authorities a five-day deadline to arrest and hand the killers.
