Four soldiers were killed and three others injured in the continuous clashes between the army and Al-Qaeda fighters in Yemen's Shabwa Province.
The confrontations resumed early today, and the forces used helicopters, tanks and other heavy weapons against the terrorists who sheltered to Al-Hawta area and have been fighting the army since last Friday.
Homes were also affected by cannon shells and the people continued to flee homes amid the fighting.
Contrary to previous reports, an official said a large-scale assault against Al-Qaeda was launched on Tuesday after the botched attack on the LNG pipeline running through Marib to Shabwa last week.
The official, who asked not to be named because he was not authorized to speak to the media, said forces with heavy weapons including jet fighters and helicopters were sent to the region to surround the militants.
Moreover, the official denied reports the terrorists took over homes of the people and that tens of thousands of the people were displaced.
