As the outcomes of the recent negotiations between the government and the Houthi Group in Qatar's capital Doha remained unclear, reports surfaced on Tuesday the group made conditions described as impossible.
The conditions included naming the Houthis who were killed in the confrontations with the army as martyrs, allocating monthly salaries for their families and compensating the families and committing the government to treating the Houthis who were injured in domestic hospitals and sending serious cases abroad for special treatments, the Akhbar Al-Youm newspaper quoted informed sources as saying.
The paper reported the group also made conditions concerning the political and religious aspects including handing over Saada, five districts in Jawf and Harf Sufyan district in Amran as well as allowing them to exercise their religious and intellectual freedom without objections. The Houthi Group affiliates to the Shiite Jaafari sect.
Qatar expressed sympathy with the group, though the government said the conditions were impossible, the paper added as it pointed out that there was no progress in the peace process in northern Yemen.
