At least five policemen were injured, some seriously, when an unidentified attacker threw a bomb on a police station in Yemen's Southern Abyan Province on Wednesday.

A security source was quoted by the News Yemen as saying that the bomb was thrown at the Zunjbar police station at 11:00 pm and those behind the attack have not been known.

A hunt was launched for suspects.

The blast followed a bomb explosion early today in the Al-Maajalah village, killing 2 and injuring more than a dozen others.

The bomb was of the shells that landed in the village during the terror raids in the village in late last year. Many terrorist suspects and civilians were injured in the raids.

It also comes amid a rise of assassinations of intelligence and security officers and attacks, sometimes suicide ones, on intelligence and public security offices in the province and other southern and southeastern provinces in the last few months.

More than a dozen plots occurred in the last two months, and assassins or groups behind them remained unidentified.
