Many government buildings in Al-Jawf province have reportedly been looted and burned by Houthi Shiite rebels, official media reported on Monday.
More than 50 personnel attacked government buildings in Khrab Al-Mawshi district of AL-Jawf province, looting and burning them, the source said, adding that civilian boys from surrounding villages were used by the rebels to carry looted property.
The group moved to a village in Khrab Al-Mawshi district where the witness said there was fighting between the Houthi rebels and back-government members.
The Yemeni government has already issued statement condemning the attack, something it says Houthi rebels were seeking less-bitter ways to end conflicts.
An official source said in statement Monday that the Yemeni government and Houthis had agreed to send delegations to Doha in the coming days to sign a minutes over the 2007 Doha-brokered peace deal between the two sides,
Apparently, Yemeni officials have sounded unusually confident notes in recent days, hinting that Houthis are trying to break the fragile truce signed between Houthis and the Yemeni government.
Yemen agreed a truce with Houthis in February to halt a war that has raged on and off since 2004 and displaced 350,000 people. Instability still threatens Yemen as well.
