Informed sources revealed Tuesday that the National Security Council and the Yemen Intelligence Agency have recruited female spies to deal with global terrorism, adding that a special search is directed at minorities who speak English, Arabic, Persian languages.
The key challenge that led the Yemeni government to follow a broad strategy to make sure of its stability is the terrorist threat and the new voices of self-ruling in the southern governorates," the same source said in a statement released by the local media, adding that all recruits are in their early 20s.
They will be working separately from the men but they will study and take part in training exercises alongside their male counterparts, the source said.
Women suspects cannot be touched by the men according to Yemen's strict social system; the source said, adding that male suspects often mask themselves as women in order to escape detection.
Female spies can use their beauty to their advantage, political analyst who spoke in anonymity said, adding that an attractive, intelligent woman can get a man and get the information she needs.
Apparently, in a country where unemployment runs at 40%, these women are reluctant to stay home and are pleased to take a regular income.
Observers said that the Government of Yemen faces a variety of security threats as well as challenges to the country’s unity. Three are particularly acute: the presence of Al-Qaeda and other violent extremists, the Houthi rebellion in the north of the country, and an increasingly militant protest movement in the south that has taken on secessionist overtones.
