One bandit was killed and four others were injured when a security patrol exchanged fire with tribesmen who set up a checkpoint on Sana'a-Marib road, the Alsahwa website reported on Thursday.

The tribesmen from the Al-Jada'an clan attempted to hijack a gas truck but the attempt was thwarted as the security patrol passed on the road.

None of the soldiers onboard the patrol was injured, the website said.

The bandits' attempt came due to disagreements with the owners of the gas truck, who come from Sanhan district, Sana'a, the website added.
