At least 8 policemen were injured, 2 seriously, on Tuesday after a suicide bomber blew himself up at the police headquarters in Dhale Province in southern Yemen, the Alsahwa website reported.
The bombing bore the hallmarks of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula which claimed responsibility for recent attacks against public security and intelligence offices in the south, Deputy Dhale Governor said.
A security source was quoted as saying the suicide bomber used a motorcycle to carry out the attack. He suddenly stopped at the gate and the motorcycle immediately exploded leading to the casualties, the source said, adding the bomber died in the attack.
His body parts were scattered at the site and police are now collecting them as a prelude to examine the body and identify the bomber, the source added.
