Ex-Defense Minister Abdul Malik Al-Sayani told the Yemen Post on Monday he would not represent the Joint Meeting Parties JMP, the opposition, in the national dialogue panel.
He affirmed he is independent and voiced astonishment over how his name was put in the list of the JMP's nominees for the panel which never represented the opposition spectrum inside and outside Yemen.
The JMP should have included all those who form the opposition, particularly those who have demands the government should meet, he said.
The remarks were given after the General People's Congress, the ruling party, and the JMP signed a minutes over the February 2009 Agreement that called for forming a 200- member commission to prepare for a national comprehensive dialogue as the next parliamentary elections near.
The two sides also signed the minutes of their preliminary meeting at which they submitted their nominees for the panel. The two minutes were signed last month.
