Unidentified gunmen have fired several rounds of gunshots at the car of the director general of Al-Mahvad district of Abyan province, Yasslam Al-Anbori at the main entrance of the city while going back to work, local media reported Tuesday.
At least two of Al-Anbori accompanying personals were killed and one other injured, officials tell local media reporters at the scene, adding that they had seen the bodies of at least two people where many locals had gathered to mourn.
According to the same sources no one has claimed responsibility, saying the intended target was Al-Anbori.
Ambushes and assassinations nowadays have all the trademark of the southern movement, Yemeni analyst who spoke on anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue said, adding that the southern movement has targeted Yemeni security officials and citizens from the north.
He said that the armed groups in the south vowed to killed governmental officials for the reason that the government did not release members of their armed groups.
He, further, said that international as well as regional academics have voiced concern about the situation in Yemen. "Situation in Yemen gains so much attention as it is a threat to both regional and global stability," he said.
