Three explosions shook on Monday night Dhale city in south Yemen but those behind them are still unidentified, the News Yemen reported.
One of them targeted the police building and there were unconfirmed reports that police director General Ali Al-Haj and some of his escorts were injured.
Some reports also said the two other blasts targeted two army posts in the city.
Following the blasts an exchange of gunfire was heard between armed gangs and an army post in downtown Dhale, the website reported.
In Lahj, four troops were killed in an exchange of fire with armed people in Halmeen district. A local source was quoted as saying that an armed group curt power cables in Safaheliya between Lahj and Dhale, prompting security forces to be dispatched to the area.
Confrontations took place between the group and forces, with four soldiers killed and others injured.
The group has many times damaged power cables in the area leaving Lahj without electricity and its people suffering in darkness and amid heatwaves.
