A judge, court reporter, Mohammed Abdullah Dughaish was killed by gunman in Al-Khazajah of Lahj governorate. Authorities were pursuing for the gunman who fled in Al-Zafaitah village, local police said on Monday.
"The body of the senior judge was found with gunshot wounds in the Toyota car in Al-Khazajah General Street," the police said, adding the operational investigative group is working at the spot of the crime.
The shootings started shortly Sunday at 9 pm. on the car's left window.
"We heard some noise. It sounded like three or four shots. At the time, we thought it was just an engine backfiring," an accompanying person was quoted as saying.
"You're dealing with people who are not happy with something or are potentially facing jail, the kind of things that bring out the dreadful emotions that can cause problems," said Lawyer, Ali Almasmari, adding that he would be surprised if a judge doing criminal cases, or certain civil cases.
The murders of the travelers became notorious cases in the southern governorates. In June three people from Rada'a district were shot dead in the city of Zunjubar of Abyan governorate. They were allegedly shot by gunmen.
