Explosive experts have defused an explosive belt that was put on the highway in Khoulan, Sana'a.

Eyewitnesses said many policemen had been dispatched to the site after they the authorities were alerted about the device that was placed near trees in the middle of the street.

The street was closed causing a traffic jam for hours, they said.

New security checkpoints were also set up to inspect cars and suspects and wide investigations are underway, they added.

The incident triggered mess affecting some state employees who were unable to reach their workplaces on time.

Police have not commented yet.
