Political sources in Cairo of Egypt revealed that a number of security experts from Egypt, Saudi Arabia and from several Gulf states are holding a series of high security meetings in Yemen with a number of senior intelligence officers and generals of the U.S. military personnel, to agree on a security and financial assistance plan by these countries to support Yemen during the coming period to tackle the threat from Al-Qaeda in Yemen, reported Al-Dar Al-Kuwaitiah Newspaper.
The meeting which aim to agree on a joint plan, involving Arab and American parties along with the Yemeni authorities. Based on Yemen request, which required on the participation of Arab parties in any American or Western move to counter-terrorism on the Yemeni soil.
The sources that requested anonymity revealed that they know that Egyptian security specialists in counter-terrorism are chairing the joint Arab delegation. The sources added there would be an agreement on a unified command of any military or security operation in Yemen against Al-Qaeda, citing the same source as saying.
These meetings, which are surrounded by high measures of secrecy in Yemen for more than a week, aim to reach an agreement on a general network for security information, including the participation of the security forces of the U.S. in the region, for exchanging information about the movements of the terrorist groups across the areas of Yemen, the Red Sea or the Saudi-Yemeni border line; in order to follow-up and surrounded terrorist activities in the region, so as to prevent Al-Qaeda from becoming even more serious and as strong as it is currently existing in Afghanistan and Pakistan, explained the same Newspaper.
