Sources reported that the detained Australian woman, who has been declared as a national security risk and had her passport cancelled, is to return to Australia.
The Australian Authority has prepared temporary travel documents to transport her along with her two children back to Australia on Friday, reported international media sources.
She has been held by Yemeni security police in a prison in the capital Sana’a, since May 16. Meanwhile, her children have been kept under home detention by Yemeni authorities.
In the same regard, the National Organization for Defending Liberties and Human Rights (HOOD) had sent a letter to Australian authorities urging them to intervene and release an Australian mother in the custody of the Yemeni authorities.
The organization wrote to Australia's Foreign Minister that the Australian mother, who embraced Islam in 2006, was arrested illegally and her two kids were left without someone to care after them.
She has been held in the Sana'a Central Prison without charge, the organization said, adding that the circumstances of the case remained unclear.
But whatever the reason was for her arrest, Australia should intervene and release the mother, the organization said, pointing out that Yemeni law allows arrestees to contact relatives and hire a lawyer while in custody.
The organization knows that Australia laws guarantee legal rights for all Australians regardless of their religion or race, it concluded.
