The Central Committee of the Yemeni Socialist Party has appealed to international community and organizations to pressure the government to lift the siege imposed on southern provinces of Dhale and Lahj and provide quick rescue support for the two cities.
At the final ordinary round held in Sana'a, the committee urged the authorities to stop violence against the peaceful protests in the south and lift the months-long siege on the two cities that took place under the pretext of fighting sabotage and terrorism.
The final statement of the round affirmed that the committee stands by the south issue and its legitimacy and praised peaceful struggle to gain better in southern cities.
The peaceful southern movement is part of democratic and legal struggle to enjoy better rights and improve the livelihoods of the people, it said.
However, the committee warned against fall in violence through the regime's traps, urging the people in the south to stay vigilant and keep peaceful struggle.
The statement criticized brutal measures against the media and freedom of expression including arbitrary arrests of journalists and urged to stop all illegal acts against the media in the country.
Moreover, it called for working hard to improve the deteriorating economic and security situations in Yemen and avoiding the use of the fight on terror to face the opposition and settle accounts.
