Justice Minster Ghazi Al-Aghbari has said that there are no political prisoners in Yemen held in connection with public opinion or rights demands cases, state media has reported.
Meeting the team of Friends of Yemen Group led by Arnold Leuthold, the minister said all the people in Yemeni jails were arrested in connection with criminal and lawbreaking charges.
He also denied the existence of exceptional courts, saying all courts were established according to the effective law and within the legislative authority.
Reports about judicial violations in the country remain untrue because the authorities punish only bandits, murderers, outlaws and burglars; individuals or organizations, he said.
The meeting also reviewed Yemen needs and possible support by Friends of Yemen for judicial reforms in the country.
