Two people were injured on Thursday when police broke up a demonstration in Yemen's southern province of Dhale that was held on the southern prisoner's day.
Local sources told the Alsahwa website that Murad Muhsen Al-Jabri and Muhammad Saleh Ali were slightly injured by bullets fired by anti-riot police.
Police used live bullets and tear gas to disperse the peaceful demonstration in which protestors lifted the flags of the pre-unity republic in the south and the photos of Ali Salim Al-Beidh, the former after-unity vice president, the sources said.
Many have been killed, injured and arrested in the recent few years in the riot-rocked city amid separation slogans and continuous protests demanding better rights and services.
In recent months, the government took further strict measures in Dhale including raiding houses in search for outlaws and terrorists responsible for destructive and criminal acts within the protests.
Also, security cordons have been imposed around many areas and cell phone service cut.
More recently, the city experienced a civil disobedience called by the secessionist movement with all shops closed and exchanges of gunfight with police heard in several parts of Dhale.
