Hundreds of thousands of people took to streets in Yemeni governorates on Thursday in protest at povertizing and starving policies of the regime over the recent years.
The protests were called by the Joint Meeting Parties, an opposition coalition in the country, which stressed the importance of national dialogue to address national crucial issues.
The parties also called on the wise people within the ruling party to work together with them and other national forces to stop the alarming economic, security and political deterioration.
In Sana'a, head of the Preparatory Committee for the national dialogue, Muhammad BaSudwah, said that the demonstration held at Al-Dhurafi Stadium came within the peaceful escalation to condemn the regime tyrannical policies and make a concrete change on the ground.
We urge to lift blockades on southern cities and call on the peaceful movement to be careful of those who infiltrated into it to plant hatred among the Yemeni people, he said.
In a press release, the parties also highlighted the economic, security and political situation, warning of the consequences of the bad planning and ineffective policies amid major challenges facing the country.
They, the challenges, are products of the regime, the statement said, urging the government to stop all violations against activists and peaceful protestors.
The statement also called on the government to carry out its responsibilities and keep pledges through implementing concrete comprehensive reforms and paying more attention to the youth as well as improving basic services across the republic.
