Stores closed on Monday in Yemen's southern province of Dhale amid civil disobedience called by the secessionist movement, the News Yemen reported.
All shops shut down and policemen and military vehicles were seen but not in large numbers.
The site also said that exchanges of gunfire were heard in some parts of the city worst hit by rioting in the recent few years, with a citizen reported to have been killed.
Also, two bombs were reported exploded at two schools early today but there were no reports of casualties.
On Sunday, the movement announced civil disobedience in Dhale, Lahj, Abyan and Aden.
Authorities declined to comment, the site added.
