President Ali Abdullah Saleh has said that he would not run for a third term in office, affirming that the decision is because the constitution does not allow doing so.
In an interview with Alarabiya Satellite Channel, Saleh also said that the war with the Houthi group has ended forever and the ceasefire was not a temporary deal.
There are positive indicators that the war has ended including that the rebels are demonstration their implementation of the ceasefire deal.
The group is eliminating landmines, withdrawing from their positions, reopening roads and more recently they handed civilian and soldier captives, he said, adding that all these prove the goodwill of the group.
However, Saleh said that Yemen will not accept a new school in the region that may seek to restore imamate rule.
We have documents that some are dreaming to reinstall imamate rule in the far north but this is impossible.
The revolution was established and so was the unity and now they are solid and firm that none can come even a tiny step back or do something for our giant project, he assured.
On the national unity and the situation in the south, the president said that the unity is a giant project that none can harm it. 'I am not worried about this achievement; however, what we are really concerned bout are destructive schemes hampering the development path and reinforcing the hatred culture,' he said.
The time is suitable to hold talks with the leaders in the south but under the roof of the unity and constitution, he added.
Also, the dialog must be with the pro-unity leaders and those who understand their country's issues and like its development, he told the pan-Arab TV Channel.
'No talk with the separatists and those who betrayed their nation.'
