Separatists ambushed on Friday a governmental car killing a police director and one guard and injuring three, an office director and two guards, in Yemen's southern Dhale province.
The killed were director of the criminal investigation unit in Dhale district Ali Ahmed Al-Halimi and guard Muhammad Muhsen Jawher who died in hospital from his injuries. The injured included head of the agricultural office in Alazariq district and two of Dhale district police director guards.
The ambush took place in Alazariq district while the officials were coming back from Friday prayers.
Separatists and subversive elements were behind the heinous crime, local officials said, adding that a hunt was launched for the perpetrators to bring them to justice.
Later on Friday night, two police were injured in the province as separatists fired on a police vehicle on highway.
The soldiers got bullets in their shoulders and thighs and were taken to hospital. An explosion was heard after the attack in downtown Dhale but there were no casualties.
Two suspects were arrested in connection with the two incidents, officials said, adding that the attacks were only aimed at disturbing the pubic security.
