A Houthi sleeper cell has been arrested in northern Yemen that authorities said was planning to carry out terrorist attacks in the capital.
The Interior Ministry posted on its website the cell members were caught in Saada in the far north where the army has fought the Houthi insurgents, supported by Iran, since 2004.
Other 4 suspected Houthi followers were arrested in the city, ages ranging from 18-23.
The arrests took place in the districts of Alwahda and Althawra after authorities found the four did not carry their IDs.
Two of them were from Saada and the other two were from neighboring Amran province.
In the south, four suspects have been arrested in connection with attacking a police station in Yemen's business capital last week in which three policemen including an officer were killed and three others injured.
Earlier media outlets said the dawn attack was implemented by 20 armed people who some officials said were familiar to authorities.
