Three citizens were injured in south Yemen Thursday brining the number of those who were wounded, including soldiers, since rioting started in the province of Lahj to six in four days.
The injuries came when separatists burned three stores, closed the highway and fired on the people in Lahj's capital of Hawta.
Eyewitnesses said separatists took advantage of the withdrawal of security forces from the city committing the subversion.
Earlier troops were dispatched to the city to thwart separatist violence as motorcyclists protested new measures including having driving licenses and numbering their motorbikes. They alleged they can't afford fees for the process.
All the contents of the stores were ravaged, with losses estimated at YR 5 million.
Saboteurs, of the fans of southern anti-government movement, shot the people, who tried to block them from closing the highway injuring three, according to the eyewitnesses.
The incident promoted store closures amid fears their owners would be attacked and their properties would be looted.
Lahj has been experiencing insecurity in most of its parts since the protests staged by motorcyclists against what they called 'unaffordable measures' started days ago.
About 40 arrests took place by the authorities which accused separatists fuelled the unrest and exploited it, attacking the people and their properties.
The south has seen much violence this year when protests by those seeking better rights and standing issues be tackled turned violent. Separatists chanted anti-government and unity slogans, clashed with police and attacked the people.
Scores died in the violence and many others were reported injured. On the other side, many arrests took place, even affecting party and movement leaders.
In Dhale province alone, about 89 people, including policemen, were killed.
Lahj, Dhale and Abyan were the worst hit by rioting.
