Fiercest clashes have erupted between tribesmen and the security forces in Mareb province, about 130 km northeast of Yemen's capital of Sana'a.
The battleground was the Sana'a-Mareb road near the Jahm and Alsaheel areas.
No casualties were reported so far.
According to local sources, troops were dispatched to break a tribal cordon by the Jahm tribe led by elder Mohammed Tuaiman demanding the Interior Ministry to give back his looted plot of land in Sana'a.
Tuaiman claims the Interior Ministry looted his land for a police station near the Presidential Palace.
Tuaiman also held the ministry responsible for what is happening and consequences that may take place if his tribe was attacked.
Earlier, the tribe people blocked the Sana'a-Mareb road in protest against turning down President Saleh's order to give back the plot or compensate its owner.
