A Yemeni warplane fell down on the border with Saudi Arabia early Sunday while raiding the Houthi insurgents, the News Yemen said.
The fall took place between the districts of Shada and Al-Dhahir, some kilometers away from confrontations on the border between the Yemeni and Saudi troops and the rebels who recently took a Saudi region.
Saudi Arabia said it has recaptured its region and in the last few days Saudi forces intensified raids on the rebels, who have been fighting the Yemeni army since 2004.
The website reported citing eyewitnesses that pilot was seen flying over the rebel stronghold of Razeh.
He landed safely but was arrested by the Houthi rebels, according to the eyewitnesses.
Military sources confirmed a fighter jet fell down but gave no details.
It is the third warplane to fall since an offensive was launched against the Houthis in the north in August.
The previous crashes were blamed on technical faults.
