Clashes erupted Wednesday between coastguards and border security forces in Hudaida province when coastguards searched boats suspected of carrying smuggled goods.
Local sources said the confrontations started when border security forces prevented coastguards from doing their job to inspect suspected fishing boats, adding such clashes between the forces are not new.

The National Coastguard has many times complained to the Ministry of Interior about illegal actions of border security.
The sources said the coastguard accuse border security forces of aiding smugglers as smuggling takes place in an organized way. Coastguards sometimes hunt boats they suspect smuggling goods such as fuel and foodstuffs.
The sources claim once an influential official from the Fisheries Office in the province intervened and let smugglers to beat a coastguard troop and kidnap the soldier.
