At least a citizen was killed and four others injured when the army shelled the district of Nihm on the suburbs of the capital Sana'a on Wednesday.

The News Yemen website quoted tribesmen as saying that the republican guards, stationed for days in the area, shelled the area of Thouma at noon and the forces spread to other areas to surround the tribes besieging the republican guard camp in the district.

Clashes erupted between the tribes and the camp in the last few weeks after reports said that the tribes had intercepted units from the republican guard from going to Hadramout province amid the widespread unrest.
