According to a senior local council official in Zinjibar, Abyan, three soldiers were killed and four soldiers injured, in the attack blamed on militants.

The source said, "masked gunmen on motorcycles attacked the governmental complex building in the morning in the city of Zanzibar, the capital of Abyan and used machine guns and heavy artillery".
"Three were killed and four others are being treated for injuries from the attack," he added.

The gunmen fled after the attack safely. This attack comes in the context of a series of operations carried out by unidentified gunmen on sites and government facilities in the governorate of Abyan where extermist elements have a stronhold.
