Hundreds of separatists staged a protest in Al-Habilain district, Lhaj, on Thursday at which they carried pictures of Gulf leaders and flags of their countries as well as the photo of Hassan Baoum, the separatist leader who was detained by the authorities this month.
They also chanted anti-unity and separation slogans that they used to say after the separatist movement had called for protests on Mondays and Thursdays to urge the release of detainees.
Leaders who took part in the protest warned of any situation that may affect the safety of soccer teams from Yemen, GCC members and Iraq and accompanying missions currently participating in the 20th Gulf Cup in Abyan and Aden.
"These people are the guests of Yemen and the separatist movement, Al-Harak, wished the championship could be held in better circumstances."
The warning came after the movement had previously urged the GCC and Iraq not to send their footballers to the south.
Moreover, the leaders called on the GCC countries to stand by the people in south Yemen for their rights that they can't neglect or give up.
