Threats Alert Envoys The State Department has banned U.S. diplomats and other government personnel from all Western hotels in Yemen as a result of the threat of terrorism. Officials declared that they were not aware of any specific, credible threat to Americans in Yemen but noted to media a continuing stream of threat information that the U.S. Embassy in Sana’a has received. Solar Energy Plant to be set up in Aden Italian company SMI will build the region’s first solar energy plant in Aden. The project will cost 300 million euros and will cover five hectares to provide 200 megawatts of energy annually, according to Aden Free Trade Zone chief Abdul Jalil al-Shuaibi. The Italian company, SMI, will provide all facilities for the solar plant under the agreement signed between AFTZ and SMI. Indian Navy Arrests 23 Somali Pirates The Indian Navy arrested 23 Somali pirates about 150 miles off Aden last Saturday. The Indian warship, INS Mysore, attacked two boats of pirates after receiving signals that the pirates were trying to hijack a crossing ship. The Indian commandos also recovered 12 AK 47 machine guns, three rifles, two grenades along with other ammunition. |
