Number of Tourists Visiting Yemen decrease in 2008

According to a report published by Tourism Ministry, the number of  tourist arrivals to Yemen decreased during the first half of 2008 to 178, 230 compared with 181,637 at the same period in 2007 and 179,754 visitors in 2006. Analytics refer the decrease to the events in the country which had a negative effect on investment in Yemen in general.

World Bank to set up water project

The World Bank (WB) is planning to set up a $360 million water project which will help solve water shortage problems in Yemen. The project would be financed by the WB accompanied by British, Dutch and German donors. Meanwhile, WB is sponsoring five water projects in the country including safe water, irrigation, basins and water rationalization projects at a cost of $ 290 million.

Foiling Different Attempts of Smuggling Hashish around the Nation

During last week, security authorities foiled different attempts of smuggling hashish around the country. Sources told Yemen Post that three soldiers were injured Tuesday while their patrol was transporting persons in possession of 18 kg of hashish. In Hodeida, security authorities seized a car carrying 40kg of hashish in the district of Bajil. Meanwhile security men in Sa'ada governorate seized 18kg of hashish at Malahid district.
