2 YR Billion to Enhance Electricity Network of Aden

In order to enhance electricity network of Aden, Ministry of Electricity and Energy will invest a sum of YR 2 billion within the investment program for the current year. The investment programs will include installing electricity transformers and cables to improve performance of the network to supply better service for locals.

World Bank Funds $20 million to Build Female Schools

Yemen and the World Bank agreed on establishing several female schools in different governorates with the total cost of $20 million funded by the World Bank. The Public Works Project will construct numerous girl schools in the framework of supporting high education and girls’ education project.

More than 20,000 Fled to Yemen in 2008

Doctors without Borders have reported that the rate of human trafficking into Yemen has doubled during the past year. More than 20,000 Africans have escaped through the Gulf of Aden to Yemen this year, twice as many as during the same period in 2007.
