Heavy Rains Kills a woman and Injures three Children in Taiz Earlier this week, floods and heavy rains killed a woman and injured other three children in Taiz governorate. Witness quoted to Yemen Post that heavy rains and floods damaged farms fields in Al-Mafer district and cut the road leading to Al-Ahad Market. Citizens failed to rescue, Mesk Qahtan, a local woman in her forties, and succeeded to rescue the three other children. Official Reports reveals Violence against Women in Yemen According to official reports, about 130 Yemeni women were killed in 2,694 incidences of violence and sexual assaults on females during 2007. A total of 970 women, including 345 under 18 old, were injured as a result of those attacks. The reports added that among all the marriages held in 2006 and 2007, about 52 per cent of Yemeni girls and about 7 per cent of boys were under the age of 15
30,000 children work on street, study says A modern study of the Supreme Council of Motherhood and Childhood pointed out that about 30,000 children in eight governorates are working on streets. The study targeted street children in Sana'a, Aden, Hodeida, Hajjah, Saada, Dhammar and Hadramout. |
