Vice President and Prime Minister Khalid Bahah said on Thursday the government is keen on putting an end to the war as soon as possible a day after Saudi foreign minister said the Saudi-led military operation in Yemen is nearing its end.
"We spare no effort to stop bloodshed and havoc in the country as we are very concerned over victimised civilians and giving priority to humanitarian and rebuilding activities," the official Saba news agency quoted him as saying.
He said the government in coordination with the GCC, Arab and friend countries is continuing all humanitarian operations and rebuilding cities destroyed by the war.
Bahah's remarks were given at a meeting in Riyadh with Bettina Muscheidt, the EU Head of Delegation to the Yemen.
On Wednesday, Saudi foreign minister Adel Al-Jubeir said the acceptance of the warring parties to peace talks and gains made on the ground by the Yemeni forces backed by the Saudi-led coalition are paving the way for an end to the military intervention in the country.
Days ago, the UN envoy Ismail Ould Cheikh started arrangements for the peace talks between Yemenis amid growing concerns over the humanitarian catastrophe and civilian death toll resulted from the several-months conflict.
However, reports surfaced lately there are still challenges with regard to determining the venue and date of the new round of talks.
From her side, Muscheidt said the EU backs all peace efforts in Yemen while hoping an end to the suffering of the Yemeni people will be very soon, according to Saba.
