At least 23 people including prisoners and staff at the central prison in Yemen's Baidha province were killed in Saudi-led airstrikes on Sunday, local security sources said.
Around 20 others were injured some seriously in the raids, they added.
The Arab military coalition led by Saudi Arabia has been bombing the Houthi militants and their weapons in most of the Yemeni cities since March.
Today, it conducted airstrikes in the capital Sanaa, Hodeida, Jawf and the cities of Taiz and Marib where battles between the Yemeni forces and the Houthis have raged in recent weeks.
Forces from the coalition are participating in the battles in support of the Yemeni forces.
Thousands of civilians including hundreds of children have been killed in misdirected airstrikes in the past seven months.
The blockade on all Yemeni sea, land and air routes, part of the military intervention, has been deepening the suffering of the people.
In response to violations, international organisations are calling for an independent investigation into possible war crimes and lifting the blockade.
