Yemen's economy has suffered a lot due to the armed conflict and a Saudi-led military operation which was launched against the Houthi militants in late March.
A report by the trade and industry ministry published by the Saba news agency on Tuesday estimated the losses of the industrial sector alone at $1.4 billion by May.
The Arab military intervention was launched on March 26 and included a blockade on all Yemeni sea, land and air ports.
The blockade has affected all imports and exports triggering fuel and raw materials shortages as well as power outages. The problems combined to affect all industries largely, the report said.
Owing to the blockade, all oil and gas projects that used to be the backbone of the national economy were shut down.
The Saudi aggression forced the shutdown of 40.000 small and medium industrial businesses, the report said, adding that other factories were affected partially.
In general, the conflict affected all sectors by around 90% leaving the country to face the worst humanitarian catastrophe amid lacks of supplies.
