The United Arab Emirates announced that 22 of its troops were killed on Friday while backing the Yemeni forces against the Houthi militants.
They were killed in an accidental munition explosion at a military brigade in the oil-rich province of Marib, UAE media outlets quoted a statement by the army as saying.
In Yemen, well-informed sources said the Houthi militants and forces loyal to the former president attacked with a rocket a position of Arab and Yemeni forces in the district of Safer.
Lately, UAE troops were killed while backing the Yemeni forces in the battles that ended with retaking southern cities from the Houthi militants.
The Saudi-led coalition has been sending thousands of Arab troops and hundreds of tanks and other military equipment including Apache helicopters to support the Yemeni forces during the battles to retake Marib and then the capital Sanaa.
Today, reports said more Arab and Yemeni reinforcements arrived to take part in the Marib battle which has been continuing for days.
And after retaking Marib and the adjacent Jawf province, the Arab and Yemeni forces will advance and drive the Houthi militants out of Sanaa.
The coalition has been bombing the Houthis and forces loyal to ex-president who ousted the Yemeni government since March.
So far, it has helped the Yemeni forces retake southern cities.
On the other hand, the battles between the pro- and anti-government forces are continuing in middle and northern regions coinciding with sporadic battles between the Houthis and Saudi forces on the border between the two countries.
