The Saudi-led coalition conducted heavy airstrikes against military targets in Yemen's capital city of Sanaa from where the Houthi militants and forces loyal to the former president fired a scud missile into Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.
The scud missile was fired from the 3rd presidency protection brigade stationed within the presidential palace on the southern 60th street.
And shortly, four airstrikes hit the brigade and the palace shaking nearby blocks terribly.
According to media outlets run by the Houthis and the former president, the missile targeted a military base in the Saudi city of Jazan.
It hit the target precisely, the Khabar News Agency quoted military sources as saying.
The coalition also struck other military brigades in Sanaa including Al-Hafa Brigade on the mountain of Nuqum.
The Houthi militants have fired around three scud missiles into Saudi Arabia since the military intervention began in late March.
The Saudi army destroyed the previous missiles before they could reach their targets.
However, Saudi Arabia has not made a comment on the missile launched today.
Moreover, sporadic clashes between the Saudi army and the Houthi militants have been continuing for months on the border between the two countries.
Saudi authorities announced several military officers including a senior chief and soldiers were killed in clashes with the Houthis in the past few days.
Lately, the coalition sent ground troops and military equipment to back the Yemeni forces against the Houthis.
Part of the military support went to the oil-rich Marib province where sources said preparations are underway to besiege and retake Sanaa from the militants.
With support from the former president, the Houthis ousted the UN-backed government and seized the capital Sanaa in late 2014 sparking a civil war and, later in March, the Arab military intervention.
