President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi has appointed new governors for the southern cities of Abyan and Lahj which were lately retaken from the Houthi militants.
The appointments were the latest by Hadi who and the government have been staying in and acting from the Saudi capital Riyadh for months.
With support from the Saudi-led Arab coalition which has been bombing the Houthis since March, the Yemeni forces have regained control of four southern cities including Aden and Dhali.
The battle is underway for Shabwa, the latest southern city that was seized by the Houthis who ousted the government early this year.
In the meanwhile, the fighting between the forces and the Houthis are continuing in other regions including Ibb where the militants have received devastating blows in the past few days.
In Ibb, which remained calm since the civil war broke out several months ago, the forces are now besieging the capital and the remaining strongholds of the Houthis.
In the past three days, they drove the Houthis out of most districts. The the Arab military coalition and the popular resistance are backing the forces.
In the capital Sanaa which has lately witnessed sporadic confrontations, a demonstration was staged by thousands of people Tuesday.
The protesters condemned the international silence toward violations by the Arab military intervention including a blockade on all Yemeni sea, land and air routes.
