The Arab Human Rights Committee has decided to form a delegation which will be tasked with investigating and documenting human rights violations amid the months-long conflict in Yemen, news agencies quoted head of the committee as saying on Wednesday.
The move comes in response to a call by the Yemeni government which has lately called on international human rights organizations to take action over violations and crimes committed by the Houthi militants and dissident forces backing them, Hadi Al-Yami was quoted as saying on the sidelines of the 34th meeting in Cairo.
The committee has met with the Yemeni human rights minister Ezz Al-Din Al-Asbahi and heard from him about ongoing violations and illegal acts against the Yemeni people by the militants and dissident forces, he said.
The meeting dealt with the situations in Arab war-torn countries with priority given to gave Yemen where the situation is very grave as people have been under direct attacks and freedoms and human rights are abused for months.
The committee's move coincided with reports that the death toll of civilians has increased to around 2.000 in Yemen since the conflict began in late March.
More than 4.000 other civilians have been injured, the reports, adding that attacks on civilians and civil infrastructures have alarmingly increased more recently.
