The Arab coalition struck Houthi positions and camps in Yemen's cities of Saada and Hajjah on the border with Saudi Arabia in what appeared to be a response to Houthi rocket attacks on Saudi forces.
Local sources said the airstrikes were heavy coinciding with reports that at least three Saudi soldiers were killed and several others injured in the Houthi attacks.
The Saudi forces, with support from the armies of the countries participating in the Saudi-led military intervention, have been clashing with the Houthis on the border between the two countries for months.
Away from the border, the battles between the Yemeni forces backed by the coalition and the Houthis continued Saturday in several cities including Lahj, Taiz, Dhali, Baidha, Abyan and Shabwa.
In Lahj, the national forces have lately been waging fierce battles as part of the plan to drive the militants from all southern cities.
The forces have been tightening the siege around the Al-Anad military base where hundreds of government forces and popular resistance fighters were detained after the Houthis took it over.
In Abyan, the forces are close to clean up all areas from the Houthis after they got advanced weapons from the coalition.
Local sources said the Houthis have received devastated blows in the district of Lawder and nearby areas.
The popular resistance backing the national forces also carried out deadly ambushes in the cities of Baidha, Taiz and Hodeida, well-informed sources said.
